Two men with a truck, properly equipped

Two trained removalists, a fully fitted truck, blankets, trolleys and straps included. It is the most common way to move in Australia — and the quality varies enormously. Here is what ours includes.

What it means

What "two men and a truck" actually gets you

It is the standard unit of the removals industry: two removalists and one truck, charged by the hour. Around eighty per cent of the moves we do run exactly this way — a one, two or three-bedroom home, a half-day to a full day, two people and a 4T to 8T truck.

The phrase is generic, which is precisely the problem. Anyone with a van and a mate can advertise it. What separates operators is what arrives with the truck and what happens when something goes wrong.

When you book two removalists and a truck with us, the truck arrives fitted out — moving blankets, a full set of trolleys and a piano trolley if needed, ratchet straps and load bars, tools for dismantling, floor runners and door protection. The crew are employed, trained, police-checked and insured, not subcontracted on the morning.

Easy Peasy Removals is an independent, AFRA-accredited Australian removals company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any similarly named removals brand.

Included as standard

What arrives with the truck

None of this is an optional extra. If a quote is significantly cheaper than ours, this list is usually where the difference is.

Moving blankets, unlimited

Every piece of furniture wrapped. Some operators charge per blanket or per hour of wrapping time. We do not.

Full trolley and strap kit

Appliance trolleys, flat trolleys, ratchet straps and load bars so the load is secured properly rather than wedged.

Dismantle and reassemble

Beds, wardrobes, tables and desks come apart and go back together, with hardware bagged and labelled.

Goods in transit cover

Your belongings are covered while they are on our truck. Ask any operator for evidence of this before you book.

Employed, trained crews

Police-checked, inducted and trained on our equipment — not day-labour arranged the night before.

A written estimate first

You see the hourly rate, the minimum, the travel component and the likely total before you commit to anything.

How much can two removalists move in a day?

A realistic guide. Actual times vary with stairs, lift access, parking distance and how well packed you are — which is why our estimate asks about all four.

Property Typical time, 2 removalists Truck size
Studio or 1-bedroom unit 2–3 hours 4T (approx 18m³)
2-bedroom unit or small house 3–5 hours 4T–6T
3-bedroom house 5–7 hours 8T (approx 40m³)
4-bedroom house 7–9 hours, or a 3-person crew 10T–12T
Few items or a single piece 1–2 hours 4T or van
When two is not enough. Past about three bedrooms, or on any job with three-plus levels of stairs, a third removalist usually costs less overall — not more. The hourly rate is higher but the job finishes proportionally faster, and you stop paying for two people to walk the same route twice. We will tell you when that is the case rather than quietly billing more hours.
On the day

How a two-person move runs

  1. Arrival and walk-through

The crew leader walks the property with you, confirms what is going, flags anything fragile or awkward, and agrees the plan before anything is lifted.

  2. Protection down

Floor runners and door jamb protection where the route is tight. Blankets come off the truck and onto the furniture.

  3. Boxes first, then furniture

Boxes load fast and build the base of the load. Furniture goes on around and above them, strapped in tiers so nothing shifts.

  4. Dismantling as needed

Beds and anything that will not clear a doorway or staircase comes apart in the room, hardware bagged to the item.

  5. Drive and unload

Travel is on the clock and shown on your estimate up front. At the other end the truck unloads in reverse order — beds first.

  6. Reassembly and sign-off

Furniture rebuilt, boxes placed in the right rooms, and a final walk-through before the crew leaves.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How much do two men and a truck cost?

From $160/hr for a 2T van or $180/hr for a 4T truck with two removalists, with a 2-hour minimum and per-minute billing after that. Larger trucks and three-person crews are priced separately. The rate includes blankets, trolleys, straps, dismantling and reassembly — there is no separate equipment or wrapping charge.

Is there a minimum charge?

Two hours, then billed by the minute rather than rounded up to the next half hour. For very small jobs a few-items booking is often cheaper than a full crew minimum.

Do the two removalists bring everything, or do I supply blankets and trolleys?

Everything comes on the truck — moving blankets, appliance and flat trolleys, ratchet straps, load bars, floor runners and the tools for dismantling furniture. You supply the boxes, or buy them from us for click and collect.

Will two removalists be enough for my move?

Two handles most one, two and three-bedroom moves comfortably. Past that, or where there are three or more levels of stairs, a third removalist usually finishes the job fast enough to cost less overall. We will say so when quoting rather than letting the hours run.

Are you connected to any other removals company with a similar name?

No. Easy Peasy Removals is an independent Australian removals company and an accredited AFRA member, operating from depots in Melbourne and Sydney. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any similarly named business.

Is travel time charged?

Yes, and it is shown on your estimate before you book rather than appearing on the invoice afterwards. It is calculated from the nearest of our depots, which is why suburb proximity affects your price.

Are you AFRA accredited?

Yes. Easy Peasy Removals is accredited by the Australian Furniture Removers Association — the industry's professional standard. AFRA members are audited on training, equipment, insurance and practice. You can verify our membership at afra.com.au.

What insurance is included?

Every move includes public liability and goods-in-transit insurance covering damage or loss during transport. For items of exceptional value we can arrange additional coverage — mention them when you enquire.

Do you provide boxes and packing materials?

Yes. Quality moving boxes, tape, bubble wrap and protective materials delivered before your move. You can also add a full packing service so our team does the wrapping and boxing.

Do you move oversized or specialist items?

We move pool tables, home gyms, oversized furniture, garage workshops and most heavy household items. For concert-grade pianos, fine art or wine collections, tell us at enquiry so we can recommend the right transport method.
