What a full packing service looks like

"Packers and movers" is what customers ask for when they want the packing done as well as the moving. That's a specific service with a specific process — heavy-duty boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, dish protectors, wardrobe cartons — and a trained pair or team who work through the house room-by-room, box by box, labelling every carton by destination room.

We can also just supply the materials and let you pack yourself, or partially pack (just the kitchen, or just the fragiles). See the packing and unpacking service page for the full breakdown.

What it includes

  • Site visit or video walkthrough to quote the packing work
  • Professional-grade packing materials — no scavenged boxes
  • Kitchen packing — plates, glasses, appliances, cutlery all wrapped and boxed
  • Wardrobe cartons — clothes stay on hangers, transferred straight
  • Fragile packing — art, mirrors, TVs, china, glassware
  • Labelling by destination room for one-touch unpacking
  • Unpacking service available at the other end
The process

What actually happens when we pack your home

Packing is not putting things in boxes. It is a sequence, and the sequence is what stops your kitchen arriving as a crate of broken glass.

We work room by room rather than category by category, because a box that holds one room unpacks in one place. Every carton is labelled with its destination room and a short contents note, so at the other end nothing has to be opened to find out where it goes.

Fragiles are wrapped individually in packing paper, not newspaper — newsprint transfers onto china and glass. Plates travel on edge rather than stacked flat, which is counter-intuitive and dramatically reduces breakage. Glassware goes into cell dividers. Voids are filled so nothing can move inside a carton, because movement inside the box is what breaks things, not the truck.

Room by room

How a full pack runs

A two to three-bedroom home is typically a full day for a packing crew, done the day before the move rather than on the morning of it.

  1. Materials arrive first

Cartons, packing paper, bubble wrap, cell dividers, wardrobe boxes, tape and markers — all professional grade. No scavenged supermarket boxes, which collapse under stacking.

  2. Kitchen, because it is the longest

Crockery on edge, glassware in dividers, appliances boxed with their cords and manuals, the pantry sorted and anything unsealed or perishable set aside rather than packed.

  3. Wardrobes stay on hangers

Hanging clothes transfer straight into wardrobe cartons with the rail still through them. They come out the other end still hanging, which saves an entire evening of re-ironing.

  4. Fragiles and artwork

Mirrors, framed art, TVs and lamps get purpose-made cartons or custom bubble and corner protection. Screens travel upright, never flat.

  5. Books, and only small boxes

Books go in small cartons exclusively. A large carton of books is unliftable and will fail at the base — the most common DIY packing mistake we see.

  6. Labelled, listed and sealed

Destination room on two sides and the top of every carton, plus a contents note. Fragile cartons flagged so they load last and unload first.

Furniture

Dismantling — and putting it all back together

Half of what makes a move stressful is arriving to find every bed in pieces on the floor and no idea which bolts belong to what. That is not how this should work.

On the way out we dismantle whatever needs to come apart to clear a doorway or staircase safely — bed frames and bases, wardrobes and flat-pack robes, dining tables, desks, bookcases, cot frames, exercise equipment and modular lounges. Every fixing goes into a labelled zip bag that is taped to the largest component of the item it came from, so the hardware physically travels with its furniture.

At the new place we reverse it. Beds are rebuilt and positioned first so the house is sleepable that night. Wardrobes go back together and get levelled. Dining table legs go back on, desks are reassembled, and modular lounges are reconfigured to the room.

What we do not do is reconnect gas, plumbed water or hardwired electrical — those need a licensed trade, and we will say so rather than improvising.

  • Beds, bases, headboards and cot frames
  • Wardrobes, flat-pack robes and shelving units
  • Dining tables, desks and console tables
  • Modular and sectional lounges
  • Bookcases, entertainment units and TV mounts
  • Trampolines, exercise equipment and outdoor settings
Choose your level

Three ways to use a packing service

Most people do not need a full pack. Picking the right level is where the saving is.

Full pack

Everything, every room, done for you the day before. The right call when you are working through the move, have young children, or are on a tight settlement timeline.

Partial pack

The kitchen and the fragiles — the two areas that take longest and break most. You handle wardrobes, books and the garage. The most popular option by a wide margin.

Materials only

We supply professional cartons, paper, bubble wrap and dividers and you do the packing. Cheapest, and far better than supermarket boxes.

Unpacking at the other end

Cartons emptied, contents placed on benches and in cupboards, and every box and offcut removed. You are not living around a wall of cardboard for a fortnight.

Dismantle and reassemble

Included as standard with any removal, whether or not you take the packing service.

Fragile-only pack

Just the art, mirrors, china, glassware and electronics. Common for downsizers and anyone with a collection.

Packing yourself vs a packing crew

An honest comparison. Self-packing is genuinely the right answer for plenty of moves.

Factor Professional pack Packing it yourself
Time One day for a 2–3 bedroom home Typically 20–40 hours spread over two weeks
Materials Professional cartons, paper, dividers Whatever you can source, often supermarket boxes
Breakage risk Low — technique and correct materials Higher, concentrated in kitchen and fragiles
Loading speed Faster — uniform, stackable, labelled Slower if boxes are mixed sizes or overfull
Insurance Professionally packed cartons are covered Owner-packed cartons carry limited cover
Cost Quoted on inventory after a walkthrough Materials only
Worth knowing about insurance. Across the removals industry, owner-packed cartons generally carry more limited cover than professionally packed ones, because nobody can verify how the contents were wrapped. If you are self-packing, that is not a reason to change your mind — but it is worth being deliberate about which items you would rather we packed.

What is included with a packing booking

  • Walkthrough or video call to quote the packing work accurately
  • Professional cartons in every size, plus wardrobe boxes
  • Packing paper, bubble wrap, cell dividers and dish protectors
  • Room-by-room labelling with contents notes
  • Individual wrapping for all fragiles, art and electronics
  • Dismantling and reassembly of furniture at both ends
  • Fragile cartons flagged to load last and unload first
  • Optional unpacking and full removal of all cartons afterwards

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How much do packers and movers cost in Sydney?

The removal is charged hourly from $160/hr for a 2T van or $180/hr for a 4T truck and two removalists, 2-hour minimum, then billed by the minute. Packing is quoted separately against your inventory after a walkthrough or video call, because a minimalist two-bedroom and a full three-bedroom with a china collection are very different jobs. Ask for both figures and you can decide which parts you want done.

How long does it take to pack a house?

A professional crew typically packs a two to three-bedroom Sydney home in a single day, done the day before the move rather than on the morning of it. Doing it yourself, the same home realistically takes 20 to 40 hours spread across a fortnight.

Do you unpack as well as pack?

Yes. Unpacking is booked separately and means cartons emptied, contents placed on benches and into cupboards, and every box and offcut taken away. It is the difference between living around a wall of cardboard for two weeks and being settled in a day.

Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?

Yes, as standard with any removal — whether or not you take the packing service. Beds, wardrobes, dining tables, desks, bookcases and modular lounges come apart on the way out and go back together at the new place, with hardware bagged and taped to the item it belongs to.

Will you reconnect appliances at the new place?

We will position and plug in standard plug-in appliances. We do not connect gas, plumbed water or hardwired electrical — those legally require a licensed trade, and we will tell you so rather than improvising.

Can you pack just the kitchen and fragiles?

That is the most popular option. The kitchen and fragiles take the longest and account for most breakages, so having them done professionally while you handle wardrobes, books and the garage gets most of the benefit at a fraction of a full pack.

Do you supply the boxes?

Yes — professional-grade cartons in every size plus wardrobe boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap and cell dividers. You can also buy materials on their own for click and collect if you would rather pack yourself.

What about strata buildings in Sydney?

We issue Certificates of Currency to your strata manager at no cost, usually the same day, and work to whatever move window the building allocates. Most Sydney buildings will not release a service lift without that certificate.
