Steel city, university town, wine country
Newcastle is having a decade. Formerly a heavy-industry port, it's now Australia's fastest-growing capital-city satellite — with beaches Sydney would kill for, wineries an hour's drive away in the Hunter Valley, and property that still costs meaningfully less than either Melbourne or Sydney. Melbourne → Newcastle moves cluster around University of Newcastle staff and students, healthcare workers at John Hunter Hospital, and families priced out of Sydney but wanting the coast.
