Melbourne to Brisbane North
Family homes, bigger blocks, better access
Brisbane's northside is where Melbourne families most often land. From Chermside (Brisbane's biggest retail hub, anchored by Westfield) through Aspley and Bald Hills up to bayside Sandgate and Brighton, you get the freestanding family homes and larger blocks that inner-city Melbourne buyers can only dream about.
Common relocation drivers: school catchments (Craigslea State High, Brigidine College, Nudgee College), airport proximity for FIFO or corporate travel, and simply space — three or four bedrooms with a backyard and off-street parking for a fraction of what you'd pay for the same in Kew or Malvern.
Simpler logistics than CBD, but details still matter
Northside deliveries are generally easier than CBD apartment moves — freestanding homes, standard driveways, no service lifts. But there are still details we plan around: long single-lane streets in Bracken Ridge and Bald Hills that can restrict semi-trailer access, overhanging trees on older suburban streets, and access via the Gateway Motorway or Bruce Highway depending on your specific suburb.
Where we can bring a semi to your door, we do — it's the cheapest option. Where we can't, we plan a shuttle truck as part of the quote so there are no surprises on the day.

Pet-considerate moves
Family moves usually involve pets. We can't transport animals ourselves, but we'll advise you on the RSPCA and IPATA-approved pet transport partners we've worked alongside, and coordinate our delivery timing to match.
Heavy & bulky items
Pool tables, trampolines, home gyms, playground equipment, garden sheds. All the things that don't make the cut for downsizing but do for a bigger northside block.
Vehicle transport
Second cars, motorbikes, trailers, jetskis. We don't transport vehicles ourselves but we can recommend car-carrier partners we've worked with on Melbourne → Brisbane runs, and coordinate scheduling.
Suburbs and precincts on the northside
Chermside — Brisbane North's retail and lifestyle centre. Anchored by Westfield Chermside, one of the largest shopping centres in the southern hemisphere. Mix of established family homes and newer townhouse developments. Easy access via Gympie Road and the Airport Link tunnel.
Aspley, Bald Hills, Bracken Ridge — the northern spine along Gympie Road. Established family suburbs with 1970s and 80s brick homes on ~600–800m² blocks. Good primary and secondary schools, community sporting clubs, and clear truck access via the Bruce Highway.
Nudgee, Boondall, Zillmere — closer to the airport, mix of family homes and newer estates. Nudgee College and its adjacent bushland are landmarks, and Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Boondall Wetlands are worth knowing for the area.
Sandgate, Brighton, Shorncliffe
The bayside strip north of Nudgee is where a different type of Melbourne mover lands — often retirees or families who want water access without paying Gold Coast prices. Sandgate's heritage main street, Shorncliffe Pier, and the Moreton Bay frontage make this a distinct pocket of Brisbane.
Practical considerations: coastal humidity (we use additional moisture-barrier wrapping for timber furniture heading here), salt air exposure, and generally narrower streets in the older sections of Sandgate. Some heritage homes have very tight side access requiring shuttle trucks.
Newer estates in Deagon and Brighton have easier access. The area's connected to the city via the Sandgate Road and Gateway Motorway — both routes we plan around depending on delivery timing.

Melbourne to Brisbane North FAQs
How is Brisbane North different from Brisbane CBD for a Melbourne move?
Brisbane North is mostly freestanding family homes on standard blocks with normal driveway access — no service lifts, no loading dock bookings, no Certificate of Currency requirements. Costs are usually lower than CBD moves too because the delivery is more straightforward. The trade-off is you're further from the city (30–45 min drive depending on suburb) if you need to be in the CBD often.
Can you deliver to my Sandgate address if there's no truck access?
Yes, we plan for this. Some bayside heritage streets have very tight access. When we can't bring a semi-trailer to your door, we use a shuttle truck from a nearby staging point — this cost is quoted upfront, no day-of surprises.
Do you handle school-term moves and coordinate with the school calendar?
Yes — northside family moves are heavily concentrated in the January and June/July school breaks. Book early for these periods (we recommend 6–8 weeks ahead) since demand for interstate slots peaks.
How long does the move actually take?
Most interstate moves from Melbourne are completed within about 1–2 weeks from pickup, depending on load size, schedule flexibility, and time of year. Once we've reviewed your enquiry, our team will confirm your exact pickup and delivery window in writing before you book.
Do you provide storage if my Brisbane home isn't ready?
Yes — at our Melbourne depot in Cheltenham. Storage is a Melbourne-side service only, ideal when your northside settlement slips and you need to hold goods before they ship. Modular units from $50/week. If you need storage on arrival in Brisbane, we can recommend partners, but it wouldn't be provided by Easy Peasy directly.
Do you move pets, cars, or plants?
We don't transport live animals, vehicles, or living plants ourselves — but we work regularly with reputable pet transport, car carrier, and biosecurity-compliant plant transporters and can recommend partners we've coordinated with on Melbourne → Brisbane runs.
