The heart of the continent
Alice Springs is Australia's most iconic outback town — the service hub for the entire Red Centre, home to Uluru tourism, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and one of Australia's largest concentrations of Indigenous service and government roles. Population is small (~26,000) but the town's strategic importance is significant.
