The questions people actually ask
Answers to the questions we hear every day — pricing, insurance, access, packing, storage, interstate, NDIS, boxes.
Pricing & quotes
How pricing works, when we bill, and what shows up on your final invoice.
How is the cost of my move calculated?
Local moves are billed by the hour based on truck size. Rates start at $160/hr for a 2T van with 2 movers, $180/hr for a 4T, and go up to $290/hr for a 12T truck with 3 movers. Interstate is fixed-price per truck size per route. Storage is charged weekly per unit. All prices are GST inclusive.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes — 2 hours is the minimum for every local job. After that we bill in 1-minute increments, so a 2 hour 15 minute move costs exactly 2.25 hours, not 3.
Do you charge extra for weekends?
Saturday adds $11 per hour to the truck rate and Sunday adds $22 per hour — a flat dollar amount, not a percentage, so it doesn't scale with truck size. Public holidays are $22 per hour. Weekdays are the base rate. The surcharge applies to the hourly labour only — the call-out fee stays the same.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The rate you see is the rate you pay. Fuel, tolls, insurance and blankets are included. What you WILL see added on the invoice: any specialist items you asked us to move (piano $165, pool table $220), storage if used, and boxes/materials if delivered.
Does the quote include GST?
Yes — every price shown on our website and instant quote is GST inclusive. The invoice will show the GST component separately for your records.
How accurate is the online instant quote?
Very — the estimator uses live pricing from our booking system and calculates based on your addresses, property details and inventory. Actual invoice may vary slightly based on real-day time (2-hour minimum applies). If your move takes longer than estimated due to conditions we couldn't know about (extreme weather, undisclosed items), we'll always call before we exceed the estimate.
When and how do I pay?
For local moves, we invoice after completion via email — pay by card, PayID or bank transfer. Interstate moves and storage require a deposit at booking with the balance on the day. We don't take cash-only jobs.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Not for standard local moves. Interstate moves require a 20% deposit at booking to lock in the truck. Storage requires the first week upfront.
Insurance & damage
What's covered, what's not, and how to handle it if something goes wrong.
Am I insured for the move?
Yes. Every move includes public liability insurance (up to $20M) and goods-in-transit insurance for damage caused by our team during the move. If we damage it, we cover it — no arguing.
What if something breaks during the move?
Tell the crew leader on the day if possible, or call the office within 48 hours. We'll assess, repair or replace as appropriate. Most items are repaired same-week; higher-value claims go through our insurer.
Are my items covered while in storage?
Public liability applies while items are at our depot. For high-value items in storage we recommend a separate contents policy — many home-and-contents insurers extend to commercial storage. Ask us for the certificate your insurer will need.
Are you AFRA accredited?
Yes — Australian Furniture Removers Association members since 2016. AFRA membership requires audited insurance, staff training and complaints processes. It's the industry's highest standard.
Access, stairs & buildings
How building access affects your move — apartments, houses, warehouses.
Do you handle apartment towers?
Yes — apartment moves are our specialty. Floor runners, corner guards, service lift booking help. We've worked every major Melbourne and Sydney tower.
Can you handle stairs?
Yes. Stairs add time (roughly +15 min per flight over 1 flight). Very heavy items on 3+ flights of stairs may need a specialist quote — mention them at booking.
What if there's no parking outside?
Tell us at booking. Where legal, we can pay for a temporary parking permit on your behalf (added to the invoice at cost). Otherwise the crew will use the closest legal spot and factor extra shuttle time.
Do you use protective coverings?
Yes — furniture blankets on all upholstered items, plastic wrap on mattresses, floor runners for lobbies and hallways, corner guards for lift doorways.
What if my new place isn't ready?
Options: (1) truck-hold — we hold your load overnight in the truck for a small fee, (2) storage — items go into our Cheltenham depot at weekly rates, (3) reschedule the drop-off leg for a small callback fee.
Packing, boxes & materials
Our packing service, box shop, and materials.
Do you offer packing services?
Yes — full pack, full unpack, or fragile-only. Full pack takes a day for a typical 3-bedroom home. We use fresh materials and label everything by room.
Can I buy just the boxes?
Yes — visit our boxes shop. Small and big moving boxes, bundles for common move sizes, packing tape, paper and markers. Click & Collect from Cheltenham next business day.
How many boxes will I need?
Rough guide: 1 bedroom = 15-25 boxes, 2 bedrooms = 30-45, 3 bedrooms = 50-70, 4+ bedrooms = 80+. Kitchens and studies use the most. Bundles on the boxes shop match these tiers.
Are your boxes recyclable?
Yes — standard corrugated cardboard, recyclable curbside. Many customers keep the boxes for their next move or resell locally.
Storage
Modules, containers, access and pricing at our Cheltenham depot.
How much does storage cost?
Modules (8m³) from $50/week. 20ft containers (32m³) from $150/week. Both are weekly rates with no lock-in — stop when your new address is ready.
What's the difference between a module and a container?
Modules are 2m × 2m × 2m internal (8m³) — great for 1-bedroom worth of goods. Containers are 6m × 2.4m × 2.3m (32m³) — hold a 3-4 bedroom home. You can also combine multiple modules.
How secure is your storage facility?
The Cheltenham depot is indoor, monitored, and not accessible to the public. Your goods are in individual modules or containers, not shared storage.
Can I access my goods during storage?
Yes, by appointment — 48 hours' notice, weekdays 9am–5pm only. Because storage is at our depot rather than a self-storage centre, access is arranged rather than 24/7.
Is storage available in Sydney?
Storage is a Melbourne-side service only. If you need storage on the Sydney end, we can recommend reputable partners.
Interstate moves
Melbourne ↔ Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra and other interstate routes.
Do you do interstate moves?
Yes — Melbourne ↔ Sydney, Adelaide and Canberra are fixed-price standard routes. Other destinations are quoted case-by-case.
How much does an interstate move cost?
Depends on truck size and route. Melbourne ↔ Sydney starts from $4,500 for a 4T truck. Full pricing is on our interstate page and shown live in the instant quote.
How long does interstate take?
Melbourne ↔ Sydney is typically 1-2 days. Adelaide is 2-3 days. Canberra is 1-2 days. We give exact pickup and drop-off dates at booking.
Can I include storage in an interstate move?
Yes — often the best option if your new address isn't ready. Store at Cheltenham, then interstate delivery whenever suits.
Do you go to Brisbane / Perth / Darwin?
Case-by-case. We regularly go to Adelaide, Sydney and Canberra. Longer routes get custom quotes based on availability.
NDIS moves
Registered NDIS provider services for accessible moves.
Are you a registered NDIS provider?
Yes — registered for accessible moves, hospital-grade bed delivery and mobility equipment. Invoicing accepted by all major NDIS plan managers.
What's different about an NDIS move?
Extra time for setup and dismantle of accessible equipment, understanding of medical schedules, invoicing through plan managers rather than the participant. Same crew standard, same trucks, just NDIS-aware.
Do you deliver hospital beds?
Yes — delivery, setup and reassembly of hospital-grade beds, hoists and mobility aids for aged care and homecare providers.
Bookings & timing
When to book, what to expect on the day.
How far in advance should I book?
2 weeks is comfortable, especially for weekends and month-end dates. We do same-week bookings when we have availability.
What time will the crew arrive?
We book morning windows (7-9am arrival) and afternoon windows (12-2pm arrival). Precise arrival depends on the previous job. We call 30 minutes before we're on the way.
What if I need to reschedule?
Free reschedule up to 48 hours before the move. Inside 48 hours a small callout fee applies. Emergencies handled case-by-case — just call.
Can you move on public holidays?
Yes but limited availability. Public holiday moves add $22 per hour to the standard truck rate, same as a Sunday.
