Cheltenham depot
Executor-controlled access, contents insurance, climate-controlled area for sensitive items.
Standard rubbish-removal deceased estate services can't provide that time. Their model is: empty the house, everything goes in the truck, everything goes to landfill or a few charity bins. Decisions get made in hours. Sentimental items get thrown out because nobody had time to notice them. This is the source of the regret families most often express afterwards.
The removal-plus-storage combination is different. We empty the house in a day. Everything goes to our secure Cheltenham depot. You have access whenever you need it. Interstate siblings can visit. Decisions can be made over weeks or months. When you're ready, we do the sorting — donation, sale, disposal — properly, at your family's pace, with nothing rushed and nothing thrown out that shouldn't be.
- Same-day removal of the entire deceased estate property
- Inventory prepared as belongings arrive at Cheltenham storage
- Secure Cheltenham storage with monthly billing — no minimum term
- Family access to storage during business hours, executor-controlled
Who benefits most from deceased estate storage
Families with interstate members who need time to visit and select sentimental items. Executors handling probate where legal timing is uncertain. Estates with substantial belongings (long-time family homes, heirlooms, artwork, collections) that need thoughtful sorting rather than snap decisions. Landlord-property estates where the lease is ending fast but the family isn't ready to make final calls. Adult children clearing a parent's home while managing their own work, family and grief.

Deceased estate storage — frequently asked questions
How much does deceased estate storage cost?
Standard removalist storage rates apply — from $50/week for a small container (~10m³) up to $180/week for a larger unit (~40m³). Most 2-3 bedroom deceased estates fit in a medium unit at $100-$140/week. Billed monthly, no minimum term. So a family taking 3 months to sort would pay roughly $1,200-$1,700 in storage on top of the removal cost.
How long can we keep belongings in storage?
As long as you need. Standard is 1-6 months while families work through belongings. Some estates stay in storage for a year or more while probate is contested or an overseas beneficiary is involved. Month-to-month billing means no commitment either way.
Can family members visit the storage?
Yes. During business hours with a day's notice, any executor-nominated family member can visit our Cheltenham depot to sort through belongings, take photos, remove items, or select what they want to keep. Interstate siblings coordinated with a specific access day, usually clustered when they fly in.
Can you photograph or inventory items so we can decide remotely?
Yes. For families where nobody local can visit, we photograph items on arrival and send an itemised inventory. Video walkthroughs of stored belongings available on request. Decisions can be made remotely — "keep item 47, donate items 12-30, dispose of items 100-150" — and we execute.
What happens when we're ready to finalise?
Send us your list — what stays with the family (delivered to whichever addresses), what goes to charity (we organise pickups), what goes to auction (we coordinate with the auction house), what gets disposed of (we handle disposal with records). One invoice for the final work, storage stops billing the day it's complete.
Is the storage insured?
Yes. Contents insurance up to standard warehouse coverage levels is included. For higher-value items (fine art, jewellery, antiques over a certain value), we can arrange scheduled coverage — usually via the executor's existing estate insurance policy — and provide documentation for it.
What if we discover something valuable in storage weeks later?
Common — sentimental items and valuables often surface as sorting progresses. Nothing gets disposed of without family sign-off, so anything found stays safe. If a valuation is needed, we can coordinate with auction houses or specialist valuers before decisions are made.
Are you AFRA accredited?
Yes. Easy Peasy Removals is accredited by the Australian Furniture Removers Association — the industry's professional standard. AFRA members are audited on training, equipment, insurance and practice. You can verify our membership at afra.com.au.
What insurance is included?
Every move includes public liability and goods-in-transit insurance covering damage or loss during transport. For items of exceptional value we can arrange additional coverage — mention them when you enquire.
Do you provide boxes and packing materials?
Yes. Quality moving boxes, tape, bubble wrap and protective materials delivered before your move. You can also add a full packing service so our team does the wrapping and boxing.
Do you move oversized or specialist items?
We move pool tables, home gyms, oversized furniture, garage workshops and most heavy household items. For concert-grade pianos, fine art or wine collections, tell us at enquiry so we can recommend the right transport method.
