Start with your cubic metre figure — 4T holds about 20m³, 8T about 40m³, 12T about 60m³. Then check whether your street can physically take that truck. In the inner north and inner west the street frequently sets a lower ceiling than the volume does, and two legs in a smaller truck is the practical answer.

Round up. A single trip in a slightly larger truck is always cheaper than a smaller truck plus a second trip. Our team also has to leave headroom for packing efficiency — an item that measures 2 m³ isn't 2 m³ of usable truck space once it's wrapped and stacked around other things.

Measure it in metres (length × width × height) — the answer is your m³ figure. A cupboard 1.8 m tall, 1.0 m wide and 0.6 m deep is 1.08 m³. If you'd rather not measure, just describe the item when you enquire and our team will add it in.

Cubic feet is the imperial unit — 1 m³ is approximately 35.3 cubic feet. Australia has been metric since the 1970s, so removalist quotes here are almost always in cubic metres.
